Died Mar. 18, 2008, aged 86. The citation appointing Dr. Basmajian as an Officer of the Order of Canada (1995) stated: “He greatly influenced generations of physicians-in-training, invented several widely-used medial devices and developed scientific techniques. Notable among his many accomplishments was his pioneering work in electromyography, which had a significant impact on the development of biofeedback techniques, used for rehabilitation following injury to the central nervous system.” Dr. Basmajian authored more than 400 scientific articles and was the series editor of the 22-volume *Rehabilitation Medicine Library*. He was the co-founder and president of the International Society of Electromyographic Kinesiology and president of the American Association of Anatomists. He is survived by his wife, Dora, children, Haig, Nancy and Sally, and 4 grandchildren. **Churchill,** Margaret Elizabeth, Saint John, New Brunswick; Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia, 1960. Died Apr. 25, 2008, aged 74. “Dr. Churchill played a key role in bringing outstanding pediatric healthcare to the Yarmouth region of Nova Scotia. She started a solo practice in Yarmouth in 1960 — a brave new venture, since at that time she was the only pediatrician outside of Halifax in all of Nova Scotia. She later became President of the Nova Scotia Medical Society, and was Medical Director of the Yarmouth Hospital from 1989 to 1991.” **Diamond,** Arthur William, Aurora, Ontario; University of Toronto, Toronto, Ontario, 1961. Died Mar. 17, 2008, aged 71. **Fortin,** Louis-Joseph, Hatley, Quebec; McGill University, Montréal, Quebec, 1950. Died Feb. 12, 2008, aged 87. Dr. Fortin served with the Canadian Armed Forces during World War II and practised family medicine from 1951 to 1997. He was also an associate professor at the Université de Sherbrooke, Sherbrooke, Quebec. He is survived by his second wife, Ann McCormick, 5 children, including Dr. Marquis Fortin, the past speaker of CMA's general council, and 13 grandchildren. **Found,** Norman Paul, Kelowna, British Columbia; University of Toronto, Toronto, Ontario, 1945, otolaryngology. Died Mar. 16, 2008, aged 85. **Halliday,** Mabel Louise Sheppard, Toronto, Ontario; University of Toronto, Toronto, Ontario, 1949. Died Apr. 24, 2008, age 84. Dr. Halliday practised family medicine in Toronto for 20 years, then earned her Master of Science degree in epidemiology and biostatistics in 1974. She was an associate professor at the University of Toronto and her work included many sojourns to China to study the effects of hepatitis vaccines. **Harrigan,** James Arnall, Niagara Falls, Ontario; University of Toronto, Toronto, Ontario, 1963, internal medicine. Died Mar. 11, 2008, aged 68. **Lavelle,** Philomena Anastasia, Etobicoke, Ontario; University of Dublin, Dublin, Ireland, 1976, anesthesia. Died Mar. 15, 2008, aged 55. **Oxorn,** Harry, Gatineau, Quebec; Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia. Died Mar. 16, 2008, aged 87. During his busy career, Dr. Oxorn headed the departments of obstetrics and gynecology at the Reddy Memorial Hospital, Montréal, Quebec, and the Ottawa Civic Hospital, Ottawa, Ontario. He was professor emeritus at the University of Ottawa, Ottawa, Ontario. His textbook, *Human Labor and Birth*, published in 1964, is still considered one of most comprehensive books of its kind and is now in its 5th edition. In 2003 he was appointed a Member of the Order of Canada. He is survived by his wife, Nicole, children, Kenneth, Donald, Karen, Valerie, Jean-Gaston and Francis, and 10 grandchildren. **Rose,** Arnold, Chapel Hill, North Carolina, United States; University of Toronto, Toronto, Ontario, 1939. Died Mar. 14, 2008, aged 94. Following his service in the Royal Canadian Air Force, Dr. Rose practised family medicine for more than 50 years in Brantford, Ontario. He is survived by his wife, Doreen, children, Donald, Eileen and Austin, 1 grandson and 3 great-grandchildren. **Strawbridge,** Harry Thomas Gordon, Aurora, Ontario; University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh, Scotland, 1943, general pathology. Died Mar. 14, 2008, aged 87. **Tanaka,** Shuzo, Nanoose Bay, British Columbia; University of Toronto, Toronto, Ontario, 1955. Died Mar. 9, 2008, aged 82. He is survived by his wife, Grace, children, Norman and Bruce, and 4 grandchildren. **White,** Ian William Craig, Oakville, Ontario; University of London, London, England, 1973, anesthesia. Died Mar. 13, 2008, aged 58. Dr. White was the former president of the Manitoba Medical Association and the Canadian Anesthesiologists' Society. He served for 3 years on the Canadian Medical Association Board. Dr. White is survived by his wife, Erica, and children, Philippa, Catherine and Alexander. **Zaleski,** Witold Andrew, West Vancouver, British Columbia; University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh, Scotland, 1946, psychiatry. Died Mar. 11, 2008, aged 87.
