Crook, Alfred Frazer, Carleton Place, Ont.; Queen's University, Belfast, Ireland, 1939, radiation oncology. Died Apr. 28, 2006, aged 89. “Loving husband of Alice. Dear father of Ann (Michael Berry), John (Janey), Brian and Tim, and stepfather of Drew Allen (Sue). Cherished grandfather of Frazer and Edward Berry, Gerry and Michael Crook, and Hadden and Derek Allen. He was predeceased by his first wife, Audrey White. Captain Crook served his country with pride during World War II as a member of the Royal Medical Army Corp. He served in North Africa (Alemein) and Italy, where he was wounded. From 1959 to 1981 he was Head of the Cancer Clinic at the old General Hospital and of the new Clinic, which he helped design and establish at the present Smyth Rd Campus.”

Gauvreau, Adrien, New Richmond, Que.; Université Laval, 1949. Died Apr. 2, 2006, aged 85. “He leaves behind his wife, Lizzie (McBrearty), 2 daughters, Anne (Claude Arsenault) and Lise, 2 sons, Denis (Claire Beaucage) and Gilles (Fabienne Desroches), 8 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, his sister-in-law, Lucy McBrearty (Marcel Bujold) and his brother-in-law René Fallu.”
Grahovac, Zvonimir Strepjan, Ottawa; University of Graz, Austria, 1946, neuro-radiology. Died Nov. 24, 2005, aged 85. “He was born in Zagreb, Croatia. Following graduation he emigrated to England, learning English and requalifying for the LRCP and MRCS in London in 1958. He joined the staff of the Ottawa General Hospital in 1965, where for many years he was the solo neuroradiologist, recognized for his excellent technical skills and impeccable safety record in dealing with unstable neurological patients. Prior to retirement in 1995, he campaigned actively for the acquisition of the hyperbaric chamber at the Ottawa Hospital. He is survived by Patricia, his loving wife of 50 years, his 2 children, Steven and Petra, and his 5 grandchildren.”
Iseman, Herbert David, Toronto; University of Western Ontario, 1969, psychiatry. Died May 7, 2006, aged 62.
Iversen, Paul Joseph, Toronto; McGill University, 1954. Died Apr. 30, 2006, aged 77. “Paul will be dearly missed by his partner of 36 years, Peter Winders, his sister Joyce (Iversen) Fair and was predeceased by his brother Rev. Norman Iversen. He also leaves behind his nieces and his many grandnieces and nephews.”
Keeley, Charles Douglas, Chatham, Ont.; University of Western Ontario, 1941, general surgery. Died May 7, 2006, aged 90. “He was predeceased by his wife, Betty, and survived by his 2 daughters, Stephanie and Patsy, and 4 grandchildren. He served as a Surg. Lt. on HMCS Saskatchewan and on convoy duty made several crossings of the north Atlantic ‚some of which were eventful.' His active support and participation in many community endeavours earned him several well-deserved accolades, including Citizen of the Year (Chatham-Kent Foundation), Douglas and Betty Keeley Lecture Hall (U.W.O.) and the Glenn Sawyer Service Award (Ontario Medical Association).”

LeBlond, Jean-Marie, Kirkland Lake, Ont.; Université Laval, 1936. Died May 2, 2006, aged 96. “He had been living in Kirkland Lake since 1937, and practised medicine for 50 years. He was an active community leader and over the years was director of the Children's Aid Society, President of the Medical Group of Kirkland Lake, Medical Director of the Tech Pioneer Residence and Coroner of the District of Temiskaming. He was honoured by the Rotary International, receiving the Paul Harris award in 1997. He was an Emeritus member of the francophone community. He was loved by his patients and delivered over 3000 babies during his long career. He was a most caring, generous man and will be sadly missed.”

Died Apr. 27, 2006, aged 91. “Beloved husband of Evelyn, much loved father of Susan Dewar (Rod) of Montreal, Nancy Thomson, Carol Bridal (Michael) and John (Susan Sollars), all of Ottawa. Proud grandfather of Anthony Dewar, Jordan, Jamieson and Alexander Bridal, Maggie and Bronwyn Thomson. Also survived by his sister Louise Sloan of Toronto and niece Dianne Gillian and nephew David Sloan, both of Toronto.”
