Good for Dr Bryce to say- something which wasn't heard and did not stop the ongoing abuse and even experimentation on Indigenous children well documented Who DID lead- the starvation and nutritional deprivation studies "The First Nations nutrition experiments were a series of experiments run in Canada by Department of Pensions and National Health (now Health Canada) in the 1940s and 1950s. The experiments were conducted on at least 1,300 Indigenous people across Canada, approximately 1000 of whom were children.[1] The deaths connected with the experiments have been described as part of Canada's genocide of Indigenous peoples.[2]
Wikipedia Not hard to find but this- likely good doc- is dragged out of obscurity as a prop.
As a profession- WE need to know- what did WE do when did WE do it and stop pink clouding this with platitudes to obscure long dead docs
Surely- we need to delve into our own history of racism and discrimination against indigenous and POC and teach it- in our med schools to change- the culture Its obviously- quite rampant as found by Mary Ellen Turtle Lafonde. We can and will do better and the tools are- first- honest examinations facts and historical recounting Not trotting out a prop.
