It is an unfortunate state of the art of medicine when a proper history of environmental exposures was not done in a patient with a non resolving pneumonia till after 2 bronchoscopies and a lung biopsy were performed which established a diagnosis. Lipoid pneumonia would have been considered much earlier in the 3 month course of the illness, if an appropriate history had been taken.
